11 Things I’d Tell Myself in 2011

If I could rewind back to January 1, 2011 and tell my 18-year-old self what and what not to do in 2011, this is probably what I would say:

11. Life is a party but you’re not at school for that. Pay more attention, stop being lazy, and aim HIGH.

10. I know he’s hot and I know you’re curious but don’t even. It won’t work out. It won’t work out with him either. Or him. So enjoy life and be carefree. Have fun being single. You’re gonna think you’re ready for it. But you’re far from it. So enjoy life.

9. Stop being so selfish. There’s more to life than just you.

8. Don’t be hasty in picking out a roommate. Pray about it.

7. Stop trying to be so hard to be so chill. Be yourself, even if you are obnoxious sometimes.

6. Don’t go to bed so darn late. Waking up for those 8:50s will be a slap in the face if you don’t get rest.

5. Love Jesus more. Life won’t be easy, but loving Jesus is all that matters.

4. Heed the voice of the Holy Spirit…He is your helper not your party pooper. Listening to him will save you a huge heartbreak.

3. Appreciate your life more. You are so blessed.

2. Even though you gain weight and have acne, you are still beautiful. God will always think you’re pretty…you have nothing to prove. Self confidence is your key to success.

1. Dream bigger, better, and louder than before. Don’t be afraid to try. Be ambitious, don’t squash it. Dreaming is one of the things you do best.
